20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. – Ephesians 3:20-21
So often, in Paul’s letters, theology leads to doxology, and this passage resembles that common pattern. After relating his prayer requests for the Ephesians in verses 16-19, Paul turns to doxology. Before hitting that soaring note of praise found in v21, Paul pauses in v20 to affirm his confidence in God’s ability to meet the requests that have been offered, as he extols the ability of God to supply the spiritual needs of his people as far above and beyond all comprehension or imagination. With such hearty assurances of God’s power, the saints are urged to pray with determination and boldness.
