Spiritual Maturity

2 Corinthians 10:12-18

In the heart of this text in verse 15, Paul makes an important connection between boasting and spiritual maturity. Launching an attack against the super apostles in Corinth, Paul exposes the emptiness these boasters who seek to gain a following by flaunting their credentials and qualities. Paul shows that Christian boasting is a boasting in the Lord for His grace and His gifts. This kind of boasting leads Christians away from captivity to depraved obsession with symbols of worldly power and grounds them spiritually so that they can grow in maturity. A further benefit of spiritual maturity is that it provides the conditions for fruitful evangelistic and missionary labor.
