1 Peter 2:1-3

This text contains a straightforward command to all believers: long for the word. The blessing of the word is that it causes the believer to grow in spiritual maturity. Such growth requires more than just learning; however, as Peter points out, the circumstance of this growth is putting away sin. The very same word which produces the new spiritual nature in believers is that word which sanctifies and sustains them in spiritual life.
