The Blessed Man

Psalm 1

Psalm 1 describes the “blessed man” in two contrasting ways: by what he shuns and by what he delights in. Though the blessed man is portrayed as one who rejects sin and loves God’s law the picture is not about legalism. The image which dominates this psalm is that of a tree planted by waters which portrays the blessed man as one whose character is forged and sustained by divine grace. This message explores the character and condition of the blessed man and how Psalm 1 relates to Jesus Christ.
