Isaiah 40:27-31
Times of waiting often lead to heaviness of heart and even sinful bitterness. Isaiah addresses the people of God presented as quarantined in Babylonian exile and calls them to cast aside their complaining and to wait upon the Lord. The promise of new strength proclaimed to the people of God in Isaiah 40:31 is held out in every generation to those who look to the Lord in faith. For those who know they are no match for their afflictions, the Lord promises the spiritual thermal updraft of divine grace.
