As the first intentionally planted Gentile congregation, the church of Antioch was uniquely blessed by the Lord. Not only did the Lord favor these former pagans with the light of the gospel but He also gave them a multitude of godly leaders and teachers. The result of such an outpouring of grace was that this church grew spiritually and numerically and became the missionary powerhouse of the ancient world. In examining how the Spirit of God led this church into mission, it seems that at least one enduring takeaway for the church of subsequent generations is that an Antioch church is a congregation which intentionally seeks mission under the direction of godly spiritual leaders.
